  1. I can't wait. If we continue with the style of play we used at Harrogate, and the fight we showed at Curzon, there is no reason we can't do it. It'll be (hopefully) two tough games and we will definitely need to be at 100%, but if we are at 100% then I would mark us down as favourites! Bring it on.
  2. Ramsbottom are beatable, despite yesterdays result. Two of our four games against Curzon have supplied solid proof that we can play very well in big games too. I'm certainly not panicking. It's getting a bit irritating that we exaggerate every loss! So we lose, and the first thing on your mind is to go onto our forum for a "told you so"? Interesting insight to your motives...
  3. You're finding problems that don't exist. Please look at the table and compare it to recent seasons then say we're having problems Curzon have had change too, just not as much as us. But given our issues in some positions (injured strike partnership, Peter Dogans injuries and dodgy temper...) that is to be expected.
  4. The players which you've mentioned (or the ones which we have kept, anyway) have added to the team. You're certainly making a "mountain out of a molehill" here, players come and go at a similar rate for most clubs at this level.
  5. Those odds mentioned were very unfair on us. We were down as 12th most likely to win it. I don't know anyone who wasn't surprised by that. They are very likely based on previous positions and not common sense.
  6. I couldn't agree more with this. We're having one of our best ever seasons. Surely we must be doing something right? --- On another note, Meakin and Wright have been Supporters Club man of the match for the last two games. I'm pretty sure these are two of the players you have issues with, footyfan ?
  7. That is a fairly valid response and I do understand where you are coming from! At the end of the day, it's all decided by what our own opinion is on a successful, or a mediocre, season is, and obviously we have different opinions on that. I think a play-off place means we've had a fairly successful season. We've hardly been anywhere near the play-offs before this season, so I think it's hard to argue that qualifying for our first attempt at this divisions play-offs isn't success. The play-offs were our target at the start of the season, not to win the title whilst playing tiki-taka football. I don't want to become "nearly men", as you say, and you're correct in saying that it's looking like we could be in that position at the end of the season. However, we've still achieved (what I think is) our highest ever league finish, and I'm sure that Shaun and this squad can build on this for an hopefully more successful season next season. Progress has definitely been made, and I think it will be wrong to go back to square one again, as we did by replacing Joey in 2012.
  8. Look at the league table then give me a valid reason to complain. We've never even put up a genuine attempt at a play-off finish before, so reaching them with ease and also having a crack at the title is a superb effort. Maybe we aren't as exciting to watch as we were under Joey, but I really couldn't care less. We don't get bonus points for a "nice" playing style!
  9. However, the fact of the matter is we don't need to play "quality" football against the majority of teams, and a "proper footballing performance" doesn't guarantee points. We do need a bit of perspective, we are in the Evo-Stik Division 1 North, so let's not complain that we aren't watching world class football every week. Our current style of play has been giving us results, and you can't argue against that. It's only against the other 4 of the top 5 clubs that our tactics become an issue. Let's not mess with a winning team.
  10. What a lovely overreaction on here. One game doesn't make a season. To an extent, the criticism of the tactics is daft. The physical style of play which we use works against the majority of teams. We simply overpower most of the teams in this division, there's absolutely no problem in how we are playing, as it manages to get 3 points week-in-week-out. However, against Curzon, Darlo, Farsley and Lancaster, we need a plan B. They're the only teams who can handle our style of play, and unfortunately they're managing to exploit the problems in it too. There are a few players (I won't name anybody) who we do seem to change our tactics to accommodate. Without them, we are a nicer "footballing" team. Quite simply, I'd just say that we should make a few rotations so we can play "better" football against the better teams. Don't get me wrong though, I'd certainly keep these players in the side for the majority of the games, as they do make the difference 80% of the time! I do understand how it is definitely not a good idea to have inconsistent tactics depending on who you are playing against. We've made massive improvements under Shaun Reid. He's built a team that can win every week. We've never been in this position before. Let's not forget that! I have full faith in the current set-up. I'm incredibly confident that Reid is the man to get us promoted, either this season or next season. There's 12 games left. This 1 game hasn't decided our season. Let's keep going as we have been, and get a nice bit of revenge, eh?
  11. The club just needs to start changing a few peoples mentalities. To the majority of the rugby and football fans in the town, we're not in the football league or conference so we seemingly don't matter. This couldn't be more wrong, but people don't realise that. I think we just need this first promotion to get people taking us seriously, and after that the bandwagon will get rolling!
  12. We've had a quality season so far. Bar one or two blips, we have shown that we have the ability to churn out results. That is all that we need. On Saturday, we appeared to have our creative edge back as well. All credit to Shaun, Toby, Lee, Rick, Gary, and anyone else. The current squad is superb and has the potential to be a successful one for us, whether it is this season or next. Ricky Anane and Louis Corrigan have been two great signings recently, I've already seen a fair bit of both of them, and I think they fit into the team perfectly. Bring on Curzon.
  13. I think the league table is doing the talking at the moment. Easily on target for a play-off place. I have no doubts about our ability to get a comfortable top 3 finish, which is all we need. We've had a great first half of the season, now we just need to replicate it in the second!
  14. Our aim for the season was most likely to get a play-off place. Having only lost 4 games this season, I'm pretty sure we're on target for that!
