  1. If you'd have asked us all before the season started whether we'd have been happy with finishing in the top four at the end of the regular season (before the splits) and be in the CC Semi Final, I'm sure we'd have all taken that every day of the week. Therefore very well done lads - great season thus far and let's hope we can continue into the business end of the season with renewed confidence and hopefully bring home some silverware.
  2. I think Smith was very much about "play what you see" which is all well and good when you had players such as Briers, Monas and Hodgson in the team to create space, but when they disappeared we had no one to replace them. It suited Sandow's play when he came and he was top drawer for us until his demise. Under Price things are far more structured and I think that suits the players we have and the results are there for all to see. LOng may it continue.......
  3. Top result and well deserved. Showed character to come back in 2nd half!
  4. Ha ha yes you're right and I think Castleford were desperate for the game to go ahead as they are already behind in the fixture list. I saw Josh's swan dive in the big puddle at the end of the match - just brilliant! I can't remember the last time we won both Easter fixtures, although I'm sure Gary will remind me if we have done so...... The team are slowly coming together and look strong - onwards and upwards!
  5. Disappointing 1st half but far better showing in the 2nd half and ran out comfortable and worthy winners. Josh showed great finishing prowess to finish off both his tries - he's going to be a great asset to us.
  6. Thx Gary - worth the wait. I had the pleasure of meeting Steve and his assistant coaches recently and found them to be thoroughly nice guys who were very passionate about the club. It was great to see!
  7. Sky are our pay masters and without them where would the game be???
  8. Glad you enjoyed it. As the season gets going it will only get better!
  9. And meet them you did - but even you would never have guessed you'd meet them in a pub!!! Saw both interviews - they both bring a breath of fresh air to the club and I'm very optimistic for the new season.
  10. Very impressed with our recruitment thus far The club need to be congratulated and things looking upwards next season!
  11. With the confirmed signing of Bryson Goodwin and strong rumours linking us to Tyrone Roberts and Ben Murdoch-Masila who made last years "Dream Team", and that Price is about to be confirmed as our new coach - has the revolution finally began?? Gary - you're normally in the know on these things - any insights?? Anyone elso on our radar??
  12. Reports from Down Under suggest that we're about to announce Cronulla Sharks assistant Steve Price as our new coach. Don't know much about him tbh other than what I can read on-line, but he'll get my 100% support as always.......... Up the Wire...
  13. 2nd choice maybe but at least they were in contention for the big jobs so hopefully we'll get someone decent, although we could do with them in sooner rather than later......
  14. Apparently NRL news feed reporting our decision is between Maguire and Pay. Board meeting tomorrow afternoon... Have you heard anything similar Gary or have any other "more accurate" information?
  15. We really need a quick resolution as we've now lost 9 players from this year's squad and have only one replacement confirmed. I think we may have other players coming out of contract that also need sorting soonest. What a mess!!!!
  16. I have now thanks and just heard it. Was it me or did he appear a bit subdued?? If he was he's got nothing to be subdued about - he always gave 100% everytime he was on the pitch and was a great warrior for us.
  17. To be honest I don't know anything about the people who we're rumoured to be talking to as I just don't follow the NRL. so don't know whether this would be a good signing or not??? Do you have any insight beyond what we can read on-line?
  18. Yes a very good and heartfelt interview Gary. I'll always be grateful for what he has done for our club and I'll never forget our cup victories and the champagne rugby we played in 2011. He's right though - the timing of hid departure is right for both sides and I wish him well in the future. Maybe when he gets his mojo back he'll go to HQ and really shake them up for the good of the game!
  19. I shall be eternally grateful for what Tony has done for our club and will always have fond memories of him. His time is over now and although Maguire didn't encourage an expansive style of play whist at Wigan i would have swapped their trophy cabinet for ours during his tenure so would be very happy to have him as our new coach! I'm sure if anyone in the press is in the know Gary it is you so we await your insight!
  20. Well Tony has fallen on his sword after a very disappointing season. I think he's right to go and has been fantastic for us but the timing is right to bring someone else in who can reinvigorate the players. It'll be an interesting off season that's for sure and let's hope the new guy comes in quickly and can sort out any recruitment we need before the better players get snapped up.
  21. A great confidence boosting win Davy that should bode well for the middle 8s, assuming Hudds beat Leigh this weekend which I fully expect them to. If we can continue playing with that desire we should have no fears for the rest of the season. And wasn't it great to see Ben Currie back playing again and even better that he scored the winning try.
  22. We've been heading there all season tbh Gary. Our performances just haven't been good enough in any dept and I can't think of one player who'll be happy with the way they've performed this year. Let's hope we can get some form together running into the middle eights!
  23. Great win and best performance of the season. Thought Dec was very good with great kicks out of hand to build pressure which is what we've lacked this season. He did more on this match than Brown has done all season!
  24. Very poor 1st half but far more desire in the 2nd half and at long last showed pride in the shirt. In the end we should have won and was disappointed that we didn't win when Gidley missed the last minute drop goal. Ratchford was in the better position for the kick and with a little more composure we'd have won. Hopefully our season has just started!
