  1. The local Tories are being opportunistic of course, but Charlotte is quite spectacularly unsuited for a role as an MP. There have been far too many incidents now. She also likes to play the victim when called out on her own misjudgements, unpleasantness and stupidity. If she stays on, which it looks like she will, somebody needs to work with her and help her to grow up at the very least. Also, the silence of a council that has made such a big thing about 'debate not hate' tells you all you need to know about them and what they really mean. What they want is NO DEBATE.
  2. Maybe. But now the question should be about why he was claiming a council tax discount on a place that was not his home. May be above board but needs to be settled. On a broader point, this council and its employees and councillors need to have a god hard look at themselves. They are perceived as completely untrustworthy and so this kind of thing is where you end up. Similarly nobody seems to know what exactly has gone on with the transfer of ownership of the land from the bus depot and clearly Mr Broomhead and Mr Bowden want to make sure it stays that way.
  3. It may be hard to tell their sexuality but it's very easy in almost every case to discern their sex. They might identify as another gender, but their sex is encoded in every cell in their body, except in a minuscule number of cases.
  4. We're on deadline for one of the magazines we publish. I've just had breakfast and already I'm knackered Watching child porn creates a demand for it but the scumbags who do it think it lets them off the hook. It really doesn't. I don't think the number of gay people is increasing, but perhaps the number of openly gay people is because there is less stigma. What is interesting to me is the number of clearly straight people who label themselves 'queer' nowadays. It's a product of social media, identity politics and porn, in my opinion. Not much cachet in being white and straight. Many men in particular are addled by porn. One of the barmy outcrops of all this nonsense is the idea some people have that, once you believe 'transwomen are women', and that includes the vast majority who remain biologically intact males, or are autogynephiles, it logically follows that a lesbian should be willing to have sex with somebody with a penis. A lot of lesbians understandably don't see things that way. BTW, trans-racialism is becoming a thing for some of the same reasons. Same goes for the explosion in the number of people who claim to be neurodivergent.
  5. Unfortunately the movement for that already exists, much to the horror of gay and lesbian people who are increasingly finding themselves under the same flag. The attempt to define paedophilia as a 'sexuality' harks back to the days of the PIE. It's often now rebranded as 'Minor Attracted Person', usually with an argument that most of them don't offend, meaning they don't themselves have sex with children. They just get off on other people doing it.
  6. That already happens. I hope a compromise is reached soon on it all so that trans people can live in peace and women can be assured that not every creep, chancer, abuser and rapist can just infiltrate their spaces on his say so. I'm not calling trans people those things. But it's beyond obvious that some males will exploit a system like the one proposed in Scotland and Wales. Has already happened in fact. This is about a whole spectrum of women's rights that the most rabid activists would strip away. As for the age thing, complex issue beyond a messageboard. But anybody who thinks that a child that can't buy a pint of beer, vote or drive a car, is able to consent to having life changing surgery and medication at any age is either stupid, mental or has other motives that aren't about the wellbeing of the child. There are some good books out there on the subject.
  7. It's not a flag about sexual preference. It's about gender identity. That poor kid. Dreadful everything about their murder, including the way it has been exploited. And I'm sure as soon as Charlotte Nichols returns from wherever she is, she'll be exploiting it too.
  8. Do we know how much the council's pensions cost every year? I know the Taxpayers Alliance claims that on average across the UK it's equivalent to about 20% of council tax, but we can take what they say with a pinch of salt. Even so, it's going to be a high figure and worth bearing in mind especially with an ageing population. I expect many people working in local government can expect to be drawing the pension for longer than they were in work. I can live with it in the case of front line staff. Not so much some of the overpaid bufton tuftons. On a related note, I reckon the first sign that things are about to unravel at the council could be the sudden retirement of Steven Broomhead. And does anybody know why he still describes himself on LinkedIn as the Interim Chief Executive?
  9. That video looks like it's expired.
  10. We know the answer now. He was lying low and has now re-emerged acting as if nothing has happened. Actually that's not far enough. Not only did none of it happen, it was the right thing to do. Usual Doublethink. So the council's investment strategy is generating 25 million a year, if you ignore the possible £68 million it recently lost in the space of a few weeks plus the cost of repaying the loans it took out to waste that money. And he definitely isn't facing trial for electoral fraud. BTW, we learn the council spends £157,000 a year with The Guardian - although it may be higher if individual spends of under £500 are included. Explains a few things about media coverage of certain issues. If Mr Bowden or Mr Broomhead read this, I'd like to reassure them that I am able to make this statement because I actually do have an alternative budget and investment strategy to theirs. It was approved in a closed session and I can't share it with them because it's commercially confidential. So now if they want to disagree with me, they'll have to come up with an alternative to the plan I can't share with them. Above is a picture of the ratifying committee for the plan I drew up in camera.
  11. Will this carry on for the next 12 months? I know Steven Broomhead goes missing all the time whenever there's a problematic issue that needs a public statement. Keeps Alan Spokesman in a job I suppose. Although I doubt he likes being elbowed aside quite so vigorously by the Leader and (Interim) Chief Exec whenever there's a photo opp or an award to be won. But is Russ Bowden really going to stay in hiding for a whole year while keeping the Leader moniker?
  12. I think this is interesting. It's from a source that is both informed and sympathetic towards councils, but this is damning not just about this one investment but the culture and governance of the council. https://www.lgcplus.com/finance/concern-mounts-over-warringtons-risk-exposure-and-governance-18-01-2022/ Things need to change. And in a big way. If Russ Bowden is found guilty of electoral malpractice, it will just add fuel to the fire, especially because there were similar accusations involving some of the same people at the general election.
  13. Seen it. Heads need to roll now. Questions also need to be asked about what Steven Broomhead did or didn't know when he was interviewed before Christmas. Tony Higgins should step down too, if just for his rant about how safe this was and his name calling of people raising questions.
  14. The idea is to borrow the money, solely or primarily from the government's Public Works Loan Board at low interest rates to invest in projects that generate an income for the council, which has seen a large cut in its funding from central government. Some of the projects may have other objectives - housing, infrastructure, jobs and skills creation etc and indeed the council isn't supposed to invest in projects that are solely about making money, but that is clearly the main motive here. Many or all councils are in this position. So in essence, what the council is doing is understandable. But the town is now in debt for over £1.6 billion and the strategy includes some dogs like Together Energy which will end up defeating the whole objective, IMO. It will take a very long time indeed to repay the debt. There is nowhere near enough transparency, scrutiny and accountability (IMO) and here we are. As I say above, I don't think there's any evidence that anybody is lining their pockets, but if they wanted to. these are the perfect conditions. More likely it's people with an overinflated sense of their own ability, playing with vast sums of money but no skin in the game, and with no push back or scrutiny. And above all no accountability. There are no consequences for fouling up on this scale. Cllr Tony Higgins was filmed recently ranting about how the council knew exactly what it was doing, all the investments were completely safe and anybody who disagreed was a 'stalker'. Sums him and the whole council up, because anybody with any sense or experience knows that simply cannot be true. And wasn't even true when he said it, because TE was already in trouble. If it were true, the likes of Lynton Green, Steven Broomhead, Russ Bowden and Cllr Higgins himself wouldn't be working for a town council in the North of England. They'd be earning billions elsewhere.
  15. https://news.sky.com/story/warrington-council-backed-together-energy-lines-up-administrators-12513276 I guess we now find out how much the council has exposed the town's backside and how much of Mr Broomhead's recent statement was factual. What a bloody mess. Update: Given that this news story hasn't been repeated on either of the local news sites, regardless of whether it turns out to be fully correct, I have to wonder if journalists agree in advance with the council to wait for a full announcement before reporting. That may be a reasonable assumption given Gary's tease, above. I guess that's fair enough but I really hope the council won't try to spin this and - at least once - be honest with people.
