Robbo
From the Mersey gateway Construction forum on facebook alg I believe (just browsing). Seems that it's the first bridge to be built to cross the Mersey in over 50 years. Strong enough for HGV's but only temporary in that it will eventually be knocked down.

Dizzy
Me neither tod.The temp bridge doesn't look strong or big enough to hold that huge crane, obviously it must be but not sure I'd like to be on it in one.Must be a really strange and unnerving place to be working...... Robbo
Apparently Asp 'The trestle bridge is a live and busy construction site used daily by heavy construction vehicles and sophisticated equipment ' http://www.merseygateway.co.uk/2015/05/haltons-first-bridge-over-the-mersey-for-54-years-completed-as-part-of-mersey-gateway-project/ Strong enough for 3 hgv's it seems
Bazj
I wonder at the logic of building a bridge under the UKs safety regime and all the associated costs it would attract only to knock it down again....
algy
When it's completed I should have saved enough to afford to go across it, probably have to drive round Penketh though as I won't have enough for a return ticket!.
Robbo
This crane on new mersey gateway bridge is only at half of its intended height of 146 metres. In the background is the Parish Church.

Dizzy
Wow that's huge, great photo. Probably a really silly question but why to they need one that high as everything looks like its at a low level and there's not much of an arm on it either so what's the point ?
