Evil Sid
Just take some time to think about this simple question. it is multiple choice so should be easy to get right. Question. on an analogue clock how many minutes between 12 and 1 A. 5 minutes B. 60 minutes C. 1800 minutes D. all of the above.
asperity
A. 5 minutes and B. 60 minutes. 1800 minutes is 30 hours so doesn't fit.
wolfie
1 degree = 60 minutes. there are 30 degrees between 12 and 1, 60 x 30 = 1800 so D
Dizzy
My answer is D all of the aboveWell ok it was going to be A & B ie 5 minutes between the 12 and 1 for the big hand or 60 mins between 12 o'clock and 1 o'clock for the little hand but Wolfie's answer sounded convincing even though I haven't got a clue what he's on about re 1 degree being 60 mins
Evil Sid
well done wolfie well spotted. One degree refers to an angle. The angle between 12 and 3 is 90 degrees a right angle. The angle between 12 and 1 is 30 degrees. One degree of angle can be further divided for accuracy into minutes. One minute of angle is 1/60 of a degree. Minutes of time were named after minutes of angle as it was "convenient" to divide hours into 60 divisions, minutes.
