  3. i think wolfs house looks to be in sankey bridges next to the book makers now near the entrance to saxon park what you think? across the road from the black house appears to be on 1893 map but replaced by a row of terraces by 1907 maps
  4. thanks algy that picture like you say must have been painted from as its pretty much exact, i have another one of his paintings of robin hood bay so he appears to have painted everyware, i wonder what drew him to warrington bridge scene?

  6. looking for what you guys can tell me, looks like the old bridge? but trying to date when it was painted it by J W STEDMAN and had a framers stamp for Edward Jones 106 Buttermarket st Warrington, does anyone know anything re the framer too? i thinks its 1890's but looking to gain some local knowledge

    tunnel

    my grandad often tells me of stories of a tunnel, his fathers farther was a rat chatcher in the 1920's an got paid per tail he cut off, and he told of a tunnel from the river mersey at the 1980's widerspool crossing bridge that was supposed to got the parish church. dont know if any truth in it but my grandad said his father was adiment

  12. thanks so interesting ours is 26, love the gather some info especially our house. cant imagain what it would have been like during the war
  13. may thanks guys made up for the response so far, our house is the end terrace next to the hospital that backs on to this curious building now an electricians. our house was built 1899/1900, that ariel phot is facinating.
  14. would be intersted to hear of anybody who lived on our street and any stories etc, i find the human side of the history facinating regards mint
